Growth and Missions Committee has been busy the last few months.  The PB&J (Peanut Butter and Jelly) Ministry has been a huge success.  A dedicated group meets the 2nd and 4th Friday at 11AM to make the sandwiches and Morris Travis delivers them to the Stockton Shelter.  Generous donations have provided PB&J and funds for bread through the end of this year.

The “Kids Carnival, Apothecary, & Car Show” is a FREE event open to everyone.  The dates are Oct. 24th and 25th from 6-8PM and children are welcome to enjoy games, prizes, and candy in a safe environment.  Many church volunteers make this a fun and welcoming occasion.

Faith-In is very busy with plans to renovate another room at the Stockton Family Shelter.  EJ Sugar has recruited 12 volunteers for the day after Thanksgiving –Black Friday – to accomplish this task.  Instead of waiting in endless lines for something that will go on sale again in 2 weeks join us for this worthwhile mission.  Besides paint and repairs the room will need; pillows, sheets, blankets, mattress pads, window cover, flooring and elbow grease!

Growth and Missions is working on another “Faith In” project for 2014.  We had a very successful 2013 mission renovating a room for the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless.  EJ Sugar is heading up the 2014 “Supporting Homeless Men” project.  We are collecting peanut butter, jelly and sandwich bread to make 150 sandwiches to deliver to the Men’s Shelter.  On weekends there are no cooked meals available.  PB&J sandwiches are portable, sustainable, and nutritious!

Sunday school students will be putting together “Care Packs” to be given out with the sandwiches.  They are asking for donations of men’s toiletries, underwear, socks, t-shirts, travel size soaps, shampoo, etc.  Please bring your donations to church by June 15th, Father’s Day.

Our annual fund raiser for Heifer Project International will be Saturday, August 9th.  It is the annual Chili Cook-Off with dinner and BINGO!  We are planning on a Petting Zoo so bring the children!
